AGH! I'm sick! Probably not the flu or H1N1, but enough that I had a sore throat today and am feeling lazy and crappy. I didn't preregister for AUSA, because I was lazy, but it may or may not work out for me price-wise. If I go, I'll maybe wear Tinka or something else, or I may slouch around, although T-kun would be sad because he likes the attention I get w/ photos n such. Am trying to slap together some steampunk stuff for the ball, but may have to scrap if I get worse. And I have to work tomorrow- at least 7 hours because I don't have vacation or sick time left. bwaaaaaaaaah.

I'll hopefully see you guys this weekend, but it may be abbreviated. Tina- I DO want to meet up with you- at the very least to trade stuff, and I want to see people (MOOOOORGAN), but it may be dependent on how I feel. Good news is that I have a friend who's giving me a room key so T-kun doesn't have to keep ferrying me home.

So birthday came and went- it was a little bit of a downer, but with all of the crazyness happing around the wedding, I wanted peace and quiet rather than a big party.  I made a chocolate cake, which looked pretty bad, but tasted delicious!

Last night started slow, but picked up when I  dug out my Tinka outfit, and replaced the brown wig with an electric blue one.  Standing on a dark street, holding a bowl of candy really unnerves the kiddies, especially when you don't move until they reach for candy.  There was one really annoying kid who twice tried to take the mask off.  We also went by a nearby haunted house, and I managed to freak out a bunch of other people.... heh heh heh.  Staying still for so long took a toll, so I  have sore knees and back to show for it.  We also went by a local ballroom that had a huge line of wannabes lined out front.  very amusing.

I also carved a bunch of Venture Brothers-themed pumpkins, but I  need to load the photos first.

I've now been watching the '80's V marathon for HOURS  now.  It's sooo long!   But it was a good diversion on a lazy sunday with roasted chicken and chocolate chip cookies.  This is one really freaked out movie, complete with a starbaby horribly bad hair and outfits.  Unfortunately,m I  can totally see some of these fashions coming back.  OMG the special effects are so lame!

House is somewhat getting under control, so I  think I'll have some time to make something new- maybe Kitsurubami.

Yup, so at around 4:40 pm, October 10 along the Maine coastline, T-kun and I were married! There were a few snafus- dessert went temporarily missing, I was hemming the skirt the morning of, and there were 30 mph gusts of wind.
The reception can be summed up thusly:

dress just needs to be hemmed, but otherwise, it looks very cute.  but there are so many other things to do >_<

am way tired from this weekend, stayed with foenixfyre  and her kitties, saw several people (twilitesea  cyberbird ,  piratess__ ), picked up some wedding goodies from blackmarth "I feel like I'm at a drug deal!", and did some haphazard cosplaying. no new costumes, no makeup, wigs sliding off my head and not actively searching for photogs but finding them anyway (hi refractorpro , eurobeatking  and lionboogy !)  Screamed "hoodie!" when the FLCL/Nick skit won a judges award- woo, and thoroughly enoyed the Eureka Seven/Cowboy BebopAMV crossover.  (did not enjoy the "live action" CB parody, though)  It didn't seem like I did a lot, but the weekend ceratinly went fast.  and work tomorrow ;_:


I saw some funny fan parodies, watched the full AMV contest and the masquerade, (which normally doesn't happen) too.  I forgot my recharger for my cell phone, so It basically died halfway through the con.  Otherwise, I would have reached out to more people.  Next con is AUSA I think.  Maybe I'll have my act together by then.....

I'm glad that I did get to spend some time with people!  Even if it was briefly or running in one direction or the other.  oh, and smelly annoying fanboys/girls are smelly.

Yeah, no updates for a long time.  I've been busy, and haven't had time for cosplay or writing updates.  :/  I still read everyone's posts, though!

Sorry everyone, I haven't been around lately.  months have been passing me by.  no cosplaying recently, and I realized that I'll be missing Costume Con this weekend :-/  Well, that is 45-90 bucks I just saved.  Hopefully this weekend with be OMGWTFBBQ SEWING WEDDING DRESS OF DOOM, cause T-kun is out of town.  I will probably post more this weekend, partially because I won't have to fight for the computer..

oh right, and T-kun's car was officially totaled by that stupid coyote.  He's getting around in my car, which I don't really use, but will now be making a longer reverse commute (due to another thing that happened this month).  We need to find/get the title, so he can wrangle the measly few bucks from the insurance company, and then we go shopping for Priuses  :-/  (thankful I never had to go car shopping until now)

I will say say that I love my 1993 Nissan Sentra, for all of it's old-lady frumpiness.  Still kicking at 16 years and 80k!  Go Rosemobile Go!

Haven't been updating lately b/c of busyness and travelling.  Quite a bit of bad news, though about my grandfather, and T-kun hit a coyote on the way  to his parent's place.  :-/
Apparently coyotes are becoming a problem in NJ.

Wasn't ready for cherry blossom season.  Too many people on the mall this weekend, and not enough relaxation.  Now it's over for the season.  Had some photos taken, but I wasn't really into it.  :/  I maybe should have stayed home and enjoyed the time outside instead.

Brother moving here! yay, but we're having a 3rd wheel situation for the next few weeks.  am feeling a little like my life is on hold

Bright spot:  this weekend we planted 3 blueberry plants, a bunch of strawberries in a pot, and a new lilac plant!  The only downside is that I don't think we'll be in this house for more than 2 years max, so I won't see them get big.  Sadness.  I also forgot a 15% off coupon on a 150 nursery bill.

Finally got  my Fed taxes off. I need to up my withholding...  and need to do state taxes online.....

Wedding planning is going well enough I guess.  Haven't heard back from wedding block people.  I guess it's normal to always feel like we're behind the ball.  again, see life on hold above.

aaaaaaaand I really hope the last frost of the season doesn't kill off  my pea sprouts!!!  D:   D:

also, I ate a ton of homemade chocolate mint cookies because I forgot the potluck was next week, and didn't bring in a lunch.

ah well.  Things could be worse.  T-kun had a work scare earlier this week which turned out fine enough in the end.  And our jobs are safe enough in this economy.  After doing our taxes though, I'm amazed about how much money we actually make before taxes!

and this weekend I go home an see the cute fuzzball!!  Apparently Eli the dog likes to fake maul Wyeth the kitten.  I want more kittehs!

Blah, another hard week where not nearly enough stuff was completed. and I'm beat :/

Everyone is making cosplay plans.  I know all the girls will be all over the few female characters, but I totally had a thing for Nite Owl II's snow cloak.  I wants I wants!!!  I am sorely tempted to learn how to make his helmet so I can join in with groups, and not be another trench or yellow dress.  Hey, If I'm masked, no one would know I'm not a guy, right?  :D  (I'm actually pretty serious about this.....)

Afterward we went to the zoo, and then had a amazing steak dinner, though the place was WAAAAAAAAY too loud, so now I have a headache :/

ps. and once again.... every time Dan was on the screen, I wanted to pinch his cheeks, he was so cute!  And then with the cowl on, roarw!  Then only time he was unsexy was the thing in the middle-then he seemed like a middle aged fan boy-- hallelujah rage!

Wedding Fabric Get! 

Today I dropped $100 on more satin than I've ever bought before.

I also bought some $80/yd lace bskdjrhfdskfjdhsfkdjfhsd.  I was good and decided not to get the $230/yard gold metallic chantilly lace, which was was considering at one point (it probably would have looked too gaudy anyway)  It is a little amusing that I'm using gold accents on my dress, because the engagement ring is white gold, and I mostly have silver jewelry.  But I was starting from a light seafoam green base fabric, and silver would have washed out.  I'm hoping the gold will match the trees in October.  :D    
When I start cutting I'll take some snapshots.

Here my tentative plans for sewing and cosplay.  I don't know if I'd actually do all of them, but they are the character's I've thought most about cosplaying.  The first ones are ones that are more likely.

Oh man, I'm so glad that I decided to work from home today (and that I brought my computer home last night). The orange line has been a nightmare all day!! >:O

not so glad about all of this work I've had to slog through. it just reminds me that I ...HATE... WRITING....SO....MUCH. I'm ok with a conversational tone, but as you've probably figured out so far, I'm not that creative in my sentence structure. So if I can borrow text from other installation's documents, I do, and then feel guilty about it. (btw, it's not plagiarism, since we're writing the document for a given installation, they borrow text from other docs that they produce all the time).  I actually feel guilty because I feel like the writing is POS, and the public deserves better technical documentation.  But who really reads it anyway? LOL  Plus, my annual review is up, so I'm paranoid....>_>


on the plus side, I've decided to try to minimize my scraps by making a "once a day" scrap quilt.  It will hopefully get rid of loose ends (lol), I get practice with handsewing (I'm getting better already!), and it will be a rainbow progression of all of the fabric from my costumes.  woo!

and on the other hand, I got to see a ton of birds at the feeder today.  yay!  The morning doves found the seeds on the ground, and a few times we've seen their remains from a red shoulder hawk's lunch..... its a full service buffet at our place.

yah, I'm still recovering from Katsu.  My mind is so out of it.  Doesn't help that I'm pressed for time with work that I don't like aaaaarg.

So another year, another Katsucon come and gone. Despite my indecision leading up to the con, it turned out pretty well!  Cosplay-wise, it was a little bit of a bust, because I decided not to burn myself out trying to get Kitsurubami done.  It was a good thing though, because work got busy again this week (3 new projects?!), and I had to work for most of friday.  Couldn't find Shinobu, so I just wore regular clothing Friday night.  I wore Robin for all of Sat, although I thought I would switch it out with Rukia .  Even though it's 4 years(!) old, and even older since the anime came out, I still got a lot of comments on it.  It's really sad though, since its usually the only one I've worn that people recognize ;_;   Apparently it is also a fantasy costumef for a lot of guys  ;_;   ;_;

Yeah, so what was win this year?  Parties, hanging out with people, and YMCK!!  foenixfyre  introduced us to a bunch of AAUSA folks, which we hung out with a lot, especially at night (yay Rockband!).  And I had a lot of great conversations with blackmarth, piratess__ and luv_blindly .  T-kun and I also chatted up Caitlyn glass at a party- she of course was lovely, and recognized T-kun on sunday.  :D  I also managed to catch half of the makeup panel, which was informative and fun.  And managed to do some networking between cosplayers and con management... heh heh heh.  Not too many photos were taken, but if there were any good ones, I'll post them.


In other news, I had an email waiting in my inbox when we got home:

my parents are getting a new kitten! I think he's a part ragdoll/Himalayan mix. OMGWTFBBQsoooooo cute! They can't bring him home for 2 weeks, but I wont' be able to see him until easter. OMG cute kitteh is cute!
